Senior night is always a fun occasion, so is Homecoming, and so is defeating your cross-town rivals. The Raiders did all three of those things tonight in a shutdown 26-0 win over East Brunswick on a night where the Raiders could do no wrong. It was the type of night where everything flowed the way it needed to.

Frankie Garbolino was efficient with his passes and made smart decisions when the team needed him, one which led to a touchdown run.

Homecoming King, Zahmir Dawud continued his unreal season with a 75 yard catch-and-run.

Jared Tynes played a phenomenal game on defense routinely creating pressure and making East Brunswick QB Ben Solimini’s night a long one.

The standout though, at least for me, was Jack Garbolino, who caught both a crucial interception and a 52 yard catch-and-run for a touchdown. Jack commented on the win tonight saying, “Definitely a big step in the right direction with the win, we definitely need to work on moving forward, especially with state playoffs coming up. I think the grit our defense always shows not letting them score at all was the big key which opened up the door for our offense to get some momentum and get going.”

The Raiders face arguably their toughest test next week in Cranford on the road on their turf. However the word in the locker room seems to be one of confidence and consistency, and why not? They’re 7-0 and the hottest team in the county. Jack went further on this saying, “We know Cranford is always a good team so we’re gonna go in there with the same intensity as we did today.”

Next week, Cranford High School, 7 pm, be there.
