Coach of the Year: Michael Rohal, North Brunswick

In just his third year at the helm, Michael Rohal helped North Brunswick accomplish something that hadn’t been done since 1998 - advance to a state final.

The Raiders started the season 2-4 before closing out on a 13-6 run that included a trip to the GMC Tournament quarterfinals and their first sectional title since 2008 with a 2-1 win over Hunterdon Central in Central, Group 4. North Brunswick then defeated reigning Group 4 champion Southern 1-0 in the state semifinals to earn a berth against No. 2 West Orange in the Group 4 final.

North Brunswick, which finished 15-10, was led by Chris Licona (nine goals, four assists), Joshua Bonsu (seven goals, four assists) and Peter Kassouf (six goals, five assists). Senior goalie Alex Andino anchored a back like that posted nine shutouts.
