Story LinksINDIANAPOLIS – Junior Emily Camlet and sophomore Sage Hendershot have made history for the Drew University track & field program.

The duo became the first two national qualifiers in Drew University men's or women's track & field history when they were among the athletes selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, the NCAA announced Sunday evening.

Camlet was selected to compete in the 400-meter dash with a top time of 57.35 seconds while Hendershot made the cut in the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.73 meters (18-9 3/4).

The Rangers are competing in just their second year as a varsity program under Head Coach Sean Robinson.

The national championship will be held March 14-15 at the Golisano Training Center in Rochester, N.Y. on the campus of Nazareth University.

The top-20 declared student-athletes in each individual event and the top-12 declared relay teams qualify for the meet.

Camlet will enter the meet ranked 19th and will compete in preliminary heats on Friday at 3:25 p.m., with the final scheduled for Saturday at 4:40 p.m. She is the defending Landmark Conference 400 champion after breaking the meet record with a time of 57.87. She won the event three times this past winter and broke a minute in all eight of her races at the distance.

Hendershot enters the meet seeded 14th in the long jump, which is scheduled for Friday at noon. She is also the defending Landmark Conference champion in the event, and she broke the conference record with her season-best jump on Jan. 24 at the Widener University Winter's Evening Invite. She placed in the top-three in the event in all eight of her jumps this winter, including three victories, and exceeded 18 feet five times.
